  • The park is known for its beautiful landscapes of rolling hills, farmland and moorland, rivers and lakes, lively market towns and villages, historic houses, and famous attractions.

    The park is one of the most popular parks in England, and it lies in the east Midlands near Manchester, Stockport, and Leeds.
    The two major areas to visit while in the Peak District are the areas around the towns of Bakewell and Buxton, and the area in and around Hope Valley.
    Near Bakewell Thetjoy.com recommends to visit;

    In Buxton visit the Go Ape Adventure Park, Poole’s Cavern, and Buxton Country Park.

    The other must visit area is in and around Hope Valley, with the traditional English village of Castleton, The Winnats Pass, Stanage Edge, the Dark and White Peaks, Mam Tor, and much more.

    You can also hike one of the Hiking Trails near Hope Valley.

    If you have the time we would recommend a visit to the Family Attractions south of Peak District National Park including Peak Wildlife Park, Bakewell, Alton Towers Resort and adventure park, and Conkers Discovery and Waterside center.

    In additional to the great attractions, one of the most popular reasons to visit the park are the outdoor activities opportunities in the park including great hiking and cycling trails, rock climbing, caving and hand gliding.

    The park is also very rich with local cultural events all year long, including the wonderful  vintage Eroica Britannia, the country fairs held in the summer almost every weekend in all the market towns, and many more.

    Visiting the park could be by driving or by public busses and trains from Manchester, Sheffield, and other cities.
    For specific information and guidance regarding local outdoor activities and attractions we would recommend visiting one of many Visitors Centers in the Peak District National Park.

    Spend at least 2-3 days visiting the park and its attractions and exploiting some of the outdoor activities’ opportunities.
