A Tudor mansion in the center of Peak District National Park, Britain’s favorite luxurious country house home to the Cavendish family since the 16th century, located 130 km south of York and 5 km east of Bakewell. The house is surrounded by vast parkland of woods and rocky hills and is home to beautiful and rich collections of paintings, old Master drawings, neoclassical sculptures, furniture, books, and other artifacts.
The art and artifacts collections are considered one of the largest and most significant private collections in Britain and Europe. In the collection works of art that span 4,000 years from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, and artworks by outstanding modern artists.
In the house 126 rooms of which nearly 100 private rooms are used by the family.  Explore the Baroque state rooms originally created by the 1st Duke, with the magnificent Painted Hall of murals showing scenes from the life of Julius Caesar, the drawing room and the magnificent Sculpture Gallery, and many more.
The vast parkland and Baroque gardens surrounding the mansion are considered some of the best and most impressive gardens in Britain. Explore and enjoy beautiful flowers and plants, numerous water features, fountains including the impressive Emperor Fountain, ponds and lakes, the Maze, and the numerous classical sculptures scattered around.
Children will enjoy the farm and its animals to pet and the adventurous playground. Visit the old Stables home to a restaurant, the Cavendish Rooms, and a farm shop. When in the estate you can enjoy the Chatsworth Estate Trail, a 13 km walk (or shorter if you wish) through the beautiful estate.
