• Bolsover Castle

A Castle in Derbyshire, partially 12th century Medieval Palace ruins, and partially a beautiful 17th century Elizabethan Renaissance Mansion built in a new tower (“little castle”).

The castle is 100 km south of York and 30 km east of Bakewell, located high above with great landscapes of the Vale of Scarsdale.
This picturesque, fairytale palace is home to wonderful 17th century interiors, beautiful gardens, and exciting horses’ performances shows in the Riding House courtyard.

The castle interiors present impressive Gothic fireplaces, luxurious living quarters and furnishings, vaulted ceiling, glorious wall paintings, and paneled ceiling paintings some in shell gold.

Enjoy walking on the restored Wall Walk, high above the Venus Fountain in the Garden.

In 2017 the castle was voted the spookiest site by English Heritage staff, with mysterious footsteps, a boy holding visitors’ hands, muffled voices and unexplained lights.
