  • The magnificent regions of the Landmannlauger Reservation, the Thjorsardalur Valley and the Hekla Volcano offers unique landscapes and attractions. Enjoy Volcanic Craters, Lava Fields, colorful Rhyolite Mountains, waterfalls, lakes and Geothermic Springs, numerous beautiful hiking trails, and much more.
The regions are 100 km east of Reykjavik and the Golden Circle and the same distance northeast of Hella on the way to the southeastern regions of Iceland.
It’s highly recommended to combine your visit of the Golden Circle attractions with a visit to Landmannlauger Reservation and the Thjorsardalur Valley for an additional 1-2 days, then to return to Reykjavik. Another option if you are on the way to the southeastern regions of Iceland is to make a 1-2 days detour trip from Hella going north on the 271 and the 26 roads, than return and continue your trip of Iceland.
If you are driving, a 4X4 vehicle is highly recommended or you can take a separate guided tour from Reykjavik for example.
