• The Landmannlauger Reservation

A magnificent and unique reservation home to Volcanic Craters, Lava Fields, colorful Rhyolite Mountains, Lakes and warm and cold springs, located within a valley 125 km east of the Golden Circle and the Selfoss Fall, and 100 km northeast of the town of Hella.
On the way to Landmannlauger visit the Hekla Volcano Visitor’s Center at Leirubakkio for traveling tips and information, hiking routes and more.
Interesting and beautiful destinations in the area include the Hekla Crater, the Frostastaoavath Lake on F225 and the nearby Ljotipollur Pool 2 km east of the lake. Consider visiting Blahylur Crater Lake and Sigoldulon Lake with its Geothermal Springs.
On your way from or back to Hella and Reykjavik, visit the Thjorsardalur valley and the 120 meters high Haifoss and the Hjalparfoss Falls.
The region, part of Iceland’s Southern Highlands, is a popular destination both for its unique landscapes, the tranquil Geothermal Springs, and the numerous popular hiking trails such as the Laugavegur trail to Thorsmork and the beautiful Skogafoss Fall.
Traveling in the Landmannlauger Reservation and its surroundings can be done only with 4X4 vehicles.
