  • A beautiful town one of the most visited cities in Spain, considered the heart and soul of Spain. The town is built on a hilltop surrounded by the Tagus River, 70 km southwest of Madrid.
    Toledo is named the three Cultures town reflecting a blend of Islam, Jewish, and Christian influences with overwhelming architectural and cultural legacy.
    Toledo’s history is dated back to Roman occupation in the 2nd century BC, followed by Visigoth, Muslim, and the Christian Monarchs rule.

    Spend a day in Toledo strolling the walled Medieval town (Casco Historico) and its charming winding narrow cobbled streets, enjoy the peaceful courtyards and artisan shops, and visit its churches, palaces, fortresses, mosques, and synagogues.

    In the old town visit the 13th century Toledo Cathedral Primada, a majestic Gothic Cathedral home to a great art gallery. Stroll the cobblestone streets of the La Juderia (the Jewish Quarter) to visit the 12th century Santa María la Blanca Synagogue, the 14th century El Tránsito Synagogue with its Sephardic Museum, and the magnificent El Greco House and Museum.

    The most famous artworks found in Toledo are those of El Greco who lived in Toledo in the 16th century. El Greco paintings are displayed throughout the city’s churches and convents, as well as in the El Greco Museum.

    Walk along the preserved town walls (Las Murallas) surrounding the old town center and explore its three entrance gates, visit the Toledo Alcazar home to a Military Museum, and cross the Roman bridge of Puente de Alcantara over the river gorge to enjoy the magnificent views of the old town.

    There are numerous beautiful churches in Toledo, most converted from mosques. Visit the 10th century Mezquita Cristo de la Luz presenting a mix of Mudejar architecture and Romanesque wall paintings, and the Gothic Iglesia de Santo Tome famous for its famous El Greco’s painting.

    Other interesting and beautiful churches are Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes, Convento De Santo Domingo El Antiguo where El Greco is buried, and Iglesia de San Ildefonso with its magnificent interior.

    Outside Toledo’s walls, explore the 16th century Renaissance complex of Hospital de Tavera (Hospital de San Juan Bautista) and its fine art museum. In the Museo de Santa Cruz you will enjoy Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, and Archaeology collections, including works by El Greco, Morales, Goya, and others.
