  • A famous and fashionable seaside resort town on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, a popular destination of European and American rich and famous visitors in the French Riviera, 68 km west of Nice and 100 km east of Marseille.
    The beautiful town and peninsula are known for their beautiful sandy beaches, high-end beach clubs and night clubs, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, vibrant nightlife, and high-end shopping.

    Stroll the old town cobbled narrow streets enjoying the colorful houses, and visit the charming Place des Lices, the town main square with its restaurants and cafes, and the Tuesday and Saturday local market, a mix of food produce market and flea market.
    TheTjoy.com recommends to visit and enjoy various attractions in town including the 15th century Palais de Suffren Palace in Place Garezzo square and the 18th century Eglise de Notre Dame de l’Assomption church. Visit the Musee de l’Annonciade in the former 16th chapel, home to modern art collection of works by Matisse, Paul Signac, Vuillard, and others. Enjoy the 17th century Chapelle de la Misericorde, and the 17th century fortress, Citadelle de St-Tropez, with its Museum of Marine history and beautiful scenery of the town and the Mediterranean coast.

    The beautiful and picturesque Old Port, Vieux Port, offers the impressive yachts, sail boats, and small fishing boats in the harbor. In the port, beautiful colored houses, restaurants and charming cafes, and the nearby fish market on place aux Herbes. North of the harbor walk the promenade to the picturesque Mole Jean-Reveille wharf and the lighthouse, offering great scenery of port and town. Consider taking a boat tour from the harbor to the nearby coastal villages and towns.

    Saint Tropez is known for its beautiful sandy beaches both public and private, offering beach and water sports facilities. There are several small beaches close to the town center and larger beaches further away, mainly in the picturesque Baie de Pampelonne area, 4 km southeast of Saint Tropez.
    There are many chick boutiques and small local shops, in the old town along Rue General Allard, Rue Georges Clemenceau, Rue Gambetta and Place de la Garonne. In early October enjoy the regatta Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, an amazing spectacle held by the luxury yachts in the harbor.

    If you are just visiting Saint Tropez and it’s not your vacation base, spend a day visiting this small charming town, and another day driving southeast to the picturesque Baie de Pampelonne to visit the small towns of Ramatuelle, Sainte-Maxime, Port Grimaud.
    Consider driving further southeast to Porquerolles Island and National Park off the Hyeres coast.
    It is also recommended to visit one of the local vineyards south of town, and to hike the beautiful Coastal Trail around the peninsula. From Saint Tropez travel east to visit the main attractions in the French Riviera to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco and Menton, or travel west to Marseille and Provence.
