  • The eastern Iceland region between Vik and the Glacier lagoon all the way to Hofn, has some of the most beautiful and popular natural sites in Iceland. The major attractions to consider visiting in the region are the impressive Fjaorargljufur Canyon and its waterfalls, The unique Lakagigar (Laki) craters region, Svartifoss Fall with its basalt columns,Svinafellsjokull Lagoon, and one of the most popular Icelandic attraction the Jokulsarlon, The Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond Beach.
Allocate at least one full day, and better 2 days, for traveling this part of Iceland.
For the visit of the Lakagigar (Laki) region we would recommend either taking a guided tour, or participating in a few 4X4 vehicles travel due to the road conditions and the need to cross rivers. For planning purpose be sure to reach the Glacier lagoon no later than in the afternoon, to leave time for a guided boat tour in the lagoon.
Once you have visited and enjoyed the remarkable Glacier Lagoon continue the 80 km northeast drive to Hofn, the Lobster capital of Iceland.
