• Jokulsarlon, The Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond Beach

A large magnificent glacial lagoon filled with giant blue-coloured icebergs with white snow and black ash veins. The icebergs which are continuously falling from the glacier tongue into the lagoon, float 500 meters into the Atlantic Ocean. The lagoon is full of marine life, fish, seals and seabirds.
Be sure to take a sailing tour along the lagoon where you are likely to spot seals resting on icebergs from a very short distance while admiring the large blue ice sculptures floating around. Plan your visit to the lagoon for no later than the afternoon to be sure to make it to the lagoon sailing tours.
Following your visit in the lagoon’ main area drive back to the overwhelming Diamond Beach with its Volcanic black sand covered with huge shining icebergs resting around. If you are lucky, you will encounter Seals resting on the beach and you might even spot Orca Whales in the ocean.
The Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond Beach are one of Iceland’s most popular tourist attraction and a great site for endless photographing.
The Glacier Lagoon is 380 km east of Reykjavik, 190 km east of Vik, and 80 km southwest of Hofn.
