• Other Sukhothai Temples

In addition to the major impressive temples, other Temples worth visiting in Sukhothai are:

  • Wat Si Chum
The Giant Buddha Temple in the northern zone, 1.5 km north of the main city walls, home to a 15 meters high and 11 meters wide seated gold-and-white Buddha positioned within a shrine hall. The statue is one of Thailand’s most memorable Buddha statues.
  • Wat Phra Phai Luang
A large temple complex in the northern part of the site built by the Khmer prior to Sukhothai’s founding, with additions in Sukhothai style.
  • Wat Saphan Hin
The “Temple of the Stone Bridge” positioned on a hilltop in the western area, reached by climbing a slate-paved path, the “stone bridge”, through a forest. Part of the temple is a large standing Buddha statue positioned on the summit, offering panoramic views across the historical park and surrounding countryside.
  • Wat Sorasak
A unique temple in the southern part of the site having 24 stucco elephant figures surrounding the main stupa base, creating one of Sukhothai’s most distinctive architectural images.
