• Mount Psiloritis Summit Hike

Known also as Mount Ida it is the highest mountain in Crete offering dramatic, rocky landscape, and overwhelming scenery of the island and the coastline. The mountain is sacred to Greek mythology, as on its slopes lies the Idaean Cave, in which according to one of the legends, Zeus king of gods was born. Various operators, in Rethymnon and Heraklion, arrange a day tour involving 4-5 hours hiking to the mountain summit, crowned by the small Chapel of the Holy Cross.
