• Fjadrargljufur Canyon

A magnificent and massive 100 meters deep and 2 km long canyon with sheer walls and waterfalls along the way. The canyon with its picturesque scenery and overwhelming landscapes of the South Coast, the Highlands and the surrounding glaciers is considered one of the most beautiful in Iceland, heaven for photographers and hikers alike.
From the parking lot you can walk up along the canyon all the way to the top, enjoying the waterfall and surrounding views, or you can walk down having great scenery into the valley. Walking in the canyon you would need to cross the shallow waters of the Fjaora River, be sure to have the right gear to protect your legs from the cold water.
The canyon is located on the 206-F206 roads 3 km north of the Ring Road near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. The F206 road leads to Lakagigar (Laki) Crater’s Region, with the Mogarfoss Fall and the Fagrifoss Fall, 1 km and 14 km north of the canyon respectively.
