With origins in the 13th century, the castle is the ancestral home of the Clan Murray, historically the seat of the Duke of Atholl, 10 km north of Pitlochry near the village of Blair Atholl. In the castle explore Scottish history through the lives of the Atholl Family and their collections of furniture, arms, portraits, souvenirs of the Murray clan, and more.

The Blair Castle Georgian design gardens dated to the 18th century include a walled garden with landscaped ponds, a Sculpture Trail, an extensive wooded grove, a red deer park, a gothic folly, and more.
