• Koh Muk

Koh Muk, Koh Mook, is a slightly larger, 4X3 km, and more developed island when compared to Koh Kradan. The island is considered a hub for the other Trang Islands explorations.
Koh Muk’s main beach, Charlie Beach, Farang Beach, stretches along the western coast with soft white sand, clear water, and sunset views. The beach has several small budget to mid-range resorts, restaurants and bars.
A small fishing village on the eastern side of the island is where most Thai residents live, with a school, clinic, and shops serving locals.
The island’s surreal and spectacular attraction is the Emerald Cave, Tham Morakot, accessed by swimming 80 meters through a dark tunnel through a limestone cliff, into a hidden emerald-green lagoon within a collapsed cave system open to the sky. The small sandy lagoon is surrounded by vertical, 40 meters high, limestone walls covered with clinging vegetation. The swimming tunnel is wide enough for several side-by-side swimmers, but the darkness, the unknown length, and the enclosed space present a psychological challenge.
Most visitors reach the Emerald Cave as part of organized tours. Independent swimmers can access the cave by kayaking or swimming from nearby beaches, though the 80-meter tunnel swim in darkness without lights is dangerous and strongly discouraged. Tour visits are safer, more comfortable, and provide necessary equipment.
The island maintains a quiet, low-key atmosphere with minimal nightlife, appealing to couples, families, and independent travelers seeking tranquility.
