  • The Trang archipelago and Koh Lipe are in the Satun Province near the
    Malaysian border, 240 km south of Krabi Province.
    The archipelago’s 46 islands, with the most popular and accessible being
    Koh Kradan, Koh Muk (Koh Mook), Koh Ngai (Koh Hai), and Koh Libong,
    offer clear water, thriving coral reefs, tranquil uncrowded beaches, and
    a remote, adventurous character. Hence, when compared to the
    overcrowded Krabi and Phi Phi islands, the remote southern destinations
    require additional travel time and effort to reach, but reward visitors with
    natural beauty and tranquility. Most of the islands have limited
    accommodation options, typically one or few resorts, no real towns or
    commercial development, and a deliberate focus on preserving natural
    beauty over tourists’ infrastructure.
    The islands are best visited in November-April when the sea is calm and
    the weather is reliable. During the monsoon season, May through to
    October, many resorts close completely and boat services are limited or
    suspended. Access the islands by boat from Pak Meng, Hat Yao, and other
    piers in the Trang and Satun Regions.
