• Muang Boran, The Ancient City

Muang Boran, the Ancient City, is the world’s largest open-air museum park, in the Samut Prakan area 33 km south of Bangkok.
In the park scale replicas and reconstructions of more than 100 Thailand’s most significant historical monuments, temples, palaces, and architectural masterpieces, arranged geographically to reflect Thailand’s actual shape as seen from above. The park was built to preserve Thailand’s architectural heritage, knowledge of buildings and monuments that had been destroyed or damaged beyond restoration, all with remarkable craftsmanship.
Explore the park on rental bicycle for half a day to admire temples from Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok. Highly impressive are the reconstructions including the floating market village, the Sanphet Prasat Palace from Ayutthaya, and the Khmer-style temples representing the pre-Thai period of the peninsula. Combine the visit of the park with a visit to the nearby Erawan Museum and Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm part of a full-day trip south of Bangkok.
