Erawan Museum is one of Thailand’s most visually spectacular and unusual attractions, with its vast three-headed, 29 meters high, elephant statue standing above the beautifully decorated museum building. In the museum remarkable collection of antiques, religious artifacts, and decorative arts. The museum’s ground floor is designed to represents the underworld, the middle floor represents the earth, and the upper floor represents the heavens. Each of the museum’s floor levels is decorated with stained glass, ceramic murals, and collections of Thai and Chinese antiques,
The museum’s impressive grounds include beautifully landscaped gardens, water features, and smaller pavilions housing additional collections.
The museum is located in the Samut Prakan area, 30 km south of central Bangkok.
A one day trip to south Bangkok will include a visit to the Erawan Museum and to the nearby Muang Boran, the Ancient City.
