  • The capital of Tyrol is famous for being a world leading winter sports center, located in the heart of the Austrian Alps and the Inn valley. The city’s charming Medieval center is home to beautiful Baroque architectural gems, beautiful 17th-18th century colored buildings with decorated facades, narrow picturesque alleys with small shops, restaurants and caffes. Stroll the small partially pedestrian old town center, in the streets of Herzog Friedrich, Hofgasse, and Maria Theresa.     • The Market Square and the Iconic Golden Roof with its gold-plated tiles, and the impressive Hofburg Imperial Palace and museum.
    • The Imperial Church with the tomb of Emperor Maximilian I and the Bronze statues of the Habsburg royalties.
    • The Cathedral of St. James, Dom zu St. Jakob, with the famous Maria Hilf painting and the canopied tomb of Archduke Maximilian III.
    • The St. Anne’s Column on Maria Theresa Street, the 50 meters high city tower with its great landscapes, and the impressive Triumphal Arch.
    • Explore the giant Tyrolean Rebellion panoramic painting at the Tyrol Panorama Museum and take the cable car to the Nordkette Mountain summit and the Alpine Zoo north of the city.
    • South of Innsbruck visit the Stubai Valley and its beautiful villages all the way to the Stubai Glacier while enjoying the magnificent landscapes on the way, and east of the city visit the magnificent Ambras Castle and Museum, the beautiful town of Hall, and the beautiful and unique Swarovski Crystal World 19 km east of the city.
    • Further away from Innsbruck visit Fussen, part of the German Romantic Road, and the beautiful Fairytale Castles 113 km to the northwest, and enjoy the beautiful St. Anton and the Stuibenfall waterfalls 100 km and 70 km respectively to the west.
    • Traveling north you can consider visiting some of the beautiful attractions of the eastern side of the German Alpine Road, such as the Garmisch Zugspitze Mountain area, 70 km to the northwest, Berchtesgaden National Park and Königssee Lake, 155 km to the northeast, and 190 km northeast to the beautiful Salzburg and its surroundings.

     

    Spend at least a day in Innsbruck and an additional 1-2 days in the city’s nearby beautiful surroundings. Consider making the city a base for your travel in the region.
