A town in the eastern entrance to the Peak District Park, known for the nearby Chatsworth House, its weekly markets, and its Bakewell Pudding. Dated to the 10thcentury, stroll through the charming, cobbled streets and along the river Wye, enjoy the lovely cafes and the small local shops, and if you have the time, visit the 10th century All Saints’ Church, and the  Old House Museum.
On the way from York to Bakewell and the park, visit Bolsover Castle east of town. When in Bakewell, visit the nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the Arbor Low Stone Circle, the Heights of Abraham, or one of the beautiful Hiking Trails Around Bakewell. Spend at least half a day in Bakewell and its surroundings.
