• Castle Howard

An 18th century Baroque Palace 24 km north of York, one of the largest country houses in England, built for the Carlisle branch of the Howard family.

The house and its unique and impressive dome with two wings enclosing a courtyard, is surrounded by a vast parkland, a lake, and formal gardens.
In the house explore and enjoy the impressive Baroque decorations and artifacts, the 21 meters high dome extravagantly painted, the fireplace and the Bacchus statue underneath it.

Admire the antique passage corridor with the classical head statues, the beautifully decorated and furnished Lady Georgiana’s rooms, and the dining and drawing rooms with paintings by Gainsborough and Reynolds.
More inside the house, the museum room and the long gallery, both filled with a mix of beautiful artifacts, furniture, furnishings, books and musical instruments, and the family Chapel.

The house was used as a filming set for the 1981 TV production of Brideshead and the 2008 film. On the grounds, two major garden buildings, the Temple of the Four Winds and the Mausoleum.

The formal gardens include a woodland garden, Ray Wood, and a walled garden with rose and flower gardens. On the estate, but operating separately from the house and gardens, is the Yorkshire Arboretum, home to extensive collection of 6,000 trees and plants from across the world, located in a beautiful landscape of parkland, lakes, and ponds.
