  • Northeast of York all the way to the northern coastline it’s an open areas of moorland and breathtaking landscapes. Visiting the park you will enjoy beautiful green valleys, stunning cliffs and dramatic coastline, charming towns and villages, magnificent abbeys ruins, and dark skies with the Milky Way visible to the naked eye.

    Traveling northeast from York, visit the fabulous Castle Howard, the picturesque Medieval market town of Helmsley, and the magnificent ruins of Rievaulx Abbey.

    Take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a popular heritage railway that  will take you for a 38 km of scenic journey from the market town of Pickering through the heart of the North York Moors National Park out to the sandy beaches of Whitby. Visit Whitby, the jewel of the Yorkshire coastline, and travel south to Ravenscar through Robin Hood’s Bay, to enjoy the great landscapes of the rugged coastline and the majestic cliffs of the Dinosaur Coast.

    Dalby Forest Visitor Center at North Riding Forest Park near Pickering is a Dark Sky Discovery Site, Milky Way class, which means it is amongst the darkest sites in the country and the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. To enjoy the Spectacular Scenery of the national park, Head to Bank Top near Pickering, climb Roseberry Topping, take a walk around Lord Stones (Carlton Bank), or enjoy the great landscapes of Carlton Bank from Lord’s Stone Cafe and Country Park, and from Clay Bank.
