The capital of Bavaria, the third largest city in Germany, east of the Romantic Road, and north of the Alpine Road and the Bavarian Alps. The city which was first mentioned in the 12th century, is a wonderful city with impressive Architecture and churches, some of the best museums in the world, great gardens and parks, beautiful palaces, and numerous recreation activities opportunities. With numerous family attractions, great shopping opportunities, interesting and enjoyable cultural atmosphere, and obviously numerous Beer Gardens the city is famous for, Munich is a great place to visit.
Start your visit strolling the pedestrian area between Karlsplatz (Stachus) and Marienplatz, the large iconic square and the center of Munich’s historic inner city.
Enjoy the Glockenspiel, the 100 years old clock charming show near Marienplatz, visit the impressive and beautiful Munich churches and the great Pinakothek (Art Galleries) trio in the Kunstareal, visit a beautiful palace, and relax in a nearby park or in the famous Hofbräuhaus beer hall and Garden.
If you visit the city in the months of September and October be sure to celebrate with millions others the Oktoberfest, the largest and most popular beer festival in the world. At Night in Munich, party in one of many trendy clubs, sit with friends in a fashionable bar, or enjoy a fine cuisine restaurant.
Munich summers are comfortable and wet while the winters are very cold and snowy. The best season to travel in the region will be in the summer, June through to September. Access Munich by flying into the city airport, by car or train. Visit the city for at least 2 days and be sure to spend a few more days travelling in its surroundings, including the Dachau Concentration Camp, and Lake Starnberg, Würmsee.
