England’s most popular and most scenic national park, in the northwest of England, 155 km northwest of York and 240 km south of Edinburgh, Escocia.
In an area of only 50 km by 65 km, sixteen major blue lakes are nestled between the country’s highest mountains, dramatic valleys, green meadows, waterfalls, and rocky hilltops.

The mesmerizing landscapes, tranquility, and romantic vibes are great setting for the whitewashed, picturesque villages.
The park area is a paradise of outdoor activities with numerous attractions for families, couples, friends, and the solo travelers.

Enjoy and relax in the beautiful region that drawn and inspired Authors like Beatrix Potter, and poets like William Wordsworth. Take a relaxing cruise on one of the many lakes, enjoy the galleries and artists’ studios, and the unique museums and festivals in the lakes’ surrounding towns and villages.
At night have a drink on a terrace facing the lake and mountains and dine in one of many Michelins starred restaurants.

If it’s an outdoor activities that you are looking for, you are absolutely in the right place, enjoy great hiking and cycling trails within beautiful landscapes, swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and much more in any of the major lakes. Rock climbing, wild water fishing, and forest adventure parks are all here for you to enjoy.

The Windermere Lake, considered part of the southern lakes, is the park’s most popular area and the region’s travel starting point for most visitors.

For information on the park attractions and available outdoor activities opportunities visit one of the Park’s Visitors Centers.

The lake District is easily accessed by car and by public transportation, train and busses.
Given the relatively small park area, we would recommend one central location in one of the lakes shores or in one of the marvelous valleys, to be the exit point for the park exploration and outdoor activities.

Touring and enjoying the lake district would take at least 2-3 days and much more depending on time spent for leisure and outdoor activities. For more information explore: www.visitcumbria.com.

You can combine your visit to the region with a visit north to Escocia or southeast to York and its nearby beautiful national parks.
