  • A picturesque seaside resort with the alps on its back, known for beautiful mansions and gardens, a stunning Mediterranean waterfront with beautiful public and private beaches, and a moderate climate all year round. Menton is located near the Italian border, 10 km northeast of Monaco and 30 km east of Nice in the French Riviera.
    Stroll the 13th century old town with the narrow-cobbled allies and pastel colored old buildings cascading down to the old port, and window shop at Saint Michel pedestrian street with its beautiful 18th and 19th century buildings. Visit the historic covered market with its stone arches and many small local produce and souvenir shops, the St. Michael’s Basilica with its beautiful Baroque decorations, paintings and artworks, and the 35 meters high clock tower. Admire the beautifully mosaic decorated square, and the unique wedding hall at the Mairie (town hall) painted by Jean Cocteau which transformed it to a giant work of art.
    Visit the major town museums including the Bastion Museum and the Jean Cocteau Museum both dedicated to Jean Cocteau, and the beautiful Carnoles Palace and garden home to the Menton Museum of Fine Arts.

    Menton is known and famous for its magnificent gardens surrounding beautiful villas.
    Visit few of the gardens including Fontana Rosa Garden, the Maria Serena Villa and Garden, Jardin botanique exotique de Menton, and the Modernist Gardens of Les Colombieres, all home to unique plants and fabulous designs.

    The lemon fruit is the symbol of Menton, celebrated each year in a dedicated festival, La Fete du Citron, during the end of February and the beginning of March. Visit La Citronneraie, a citrus grove home to more than 80 species of lemon trees.

    Spend at least 1-2 days in Menton accessing the town either by driving or by train, with the Nice international airport only half an hour away by car.
