Galleria dell’Accademia
The gallery In Via Ricasoli is home to the largest collection of Michelangelo Buonarroti’s sculptures including one of the best-known works of art, the marvelous sculpture of David. The gallery holds also Michelangelo's unfinished statues of the slaves, prepared for the tomb of Pope Julius II, and the unfinished San Matteo sculpture. A private collection in an impressive villa, 3 km north of the Galleria dell'Accademia, great for children who need something different than Renaissance artworks and churches. Basilica di San Lorenzo
At the center of Florence Market district, one of the largest and oldest churches of Florence which at early days was the city's Cathedral. Designed by Fillippo Brunelleschi in the 15th century, it was the burial place of all the principal members of the Medici family. The church is part of a complex including the Sagresta Vacchia by Brunelleschi, with interior decoration and sculptures by Donatello, the Laurentian Library, the New Sacristy based on Michelangelo's designs, and the magnificent Medici Chapels by Matteo Nigetti. In the basilica you will find a fresco by Bronzino, two bronze pulpits and bronze doors by Donatello, an altarpiece by Fra Filippo Lippi, and a tomb of Giova, and Piero de Medici by Verrocchio.

Santa Maria del Fiore
The Florence Cathedral known as the Duomo in Piazza del Duomo, is the most known attraction of the city. The Cathedral and its dome, 91 meters high and 46 meters wide, was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi in the 15th century to be the largest dome in the world built from bricks and mortars. Also in the square, the nearby 14th century Giotto's 85 meters high tower, the Campanile, offering amazing city views from its top, and the San Giovanni Medieval Baptistery located in front of the cathedral and decorated by numerous renowned Renaissance artists. In the Cathedral, enjoy the exquisite mosaic floors, stunning frescoes by Vasari and Zuccari, and 44 stained-glass windows. But most of the Cathedral artwork treasures, as well as those from the Baptistery and the Campanile were removed over the years and many are presented in the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, east of the Cathedral, where the story of the Duomo and its cupola is told.

Florence's major gallery at the corner of Piazza della Signoria in the 16th century Palazzo degli Uffizi. The Museum is home to more than 100 rooms in two U shaped floors where the gallery's main highlights are on the 2nd floor. The museum is considered one of the finest and most important art museums in the world. In the museum the largest collection of Italian Renaissance art donated to the city of Florence by the Medici family in the 18th century. Enjoy a vast collection of international, Italian, and Florentine art, from ancient Greek sculptures through to 18th century Venetian paintings and recent Temporary Art. In the gallery works by Botticelli (Rooms # 10 to 14), Michelangelo (room #41), Leonardo da Vinci (room #35), Raphael (room #41), Caravaggio (rooms 96, 97) and Rembrandt, Rubens, and Van Dyck (room #99) and that’s just naming a few. Plan at least 2-4 hours visit in the gallery, and preferably purchase tickets in advance to avoid the long line.

The Vasarian Corridor
A 1 km long covered passageway designed by Vasari in the 16th century. The corridor connects the 1st floor of the Uffizi Gallery, via the Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Medicean Gardens of Boboli, to the Palazzo Pitti. The Corridor is a museum home to a vast collection of artworks from the 16th and 17th centuries hung on its walls.

Ponte Vecchio
A beautiful bridge over the Arno River, connecting the historic center to the eastern part of the city and offering beautiful views of the river and city, especially at sunset. Rebuilt in the 14th century, it's the only bridge that survived World War II with no harm. The bridge’s unique attractions are the small jewelry shops on both sides of the bridge and the Vasari's elevated Corridor running above the bridge and connecting the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Pitti.
