  • There are more than 30 ancient underground cities scattered around in Cappadocia, dug into the soft Volcanic rock, used by various communities of different population sizes. In the underground cities you will find homes, workshops, storerooms, churches, and monasteries, all arranged in few floors and connected via a network of tunnels. These underground cities are must visit sites, considered highly popular tourist attraction.
    Visiting the cities, be ready for ~15 C deg. temperature all year round. We would recommend visiting the highly popular Derinkuyu and Kaymakli underground cities, or the widespread Ozkonak underground city 21 km north of Avanos. Other underground cities in Cappadocia are those at Tatlarin, Çardak, Acıgöl, Mazi, and at Ozluce, among others.
