Iceland is a “circular” Island with two major regions which can be used as home base for traveling and enjoying the nature gems the island has to offer. Make Reykjavik your home base for traveling its surroundings including the Golden Circle, the Eastern Attractions, and the northwestern Snaefellsness Peninsula. The second option is to travel in the northern part of the island with Akureyri as a base, including the Diamond Circle, the Myvatn Lake attractions, and the western coastal villages. You may also consider traveling and enjoying both areas by either flying or driving north from Reykjavik to Akureyri, or by encircling the island by driving east from Reykjavik to the magnificent and interesting attractions of the east including the Fjaorargljufur Canyon and the Glacier Lagoon all the way north and west to Akureyri.
