The capital of Scotland is built over valleys and hills on the Firth of Forth’s bay southern shore, and it’s the 2nd most visited destination in the UK after London.

If you are visiting Edinburgh in August enjoy the 3 weeks famous and the world’s largest Edinburgh International Art Festival, and the Fringe Festival, taking place in dozens of churches and other halls across the city.

Being on the southern shores of the Firth of Forth’s bay, the city has 14 km of coastline, several recreation beaches, and numerous sea sport centers.

Traveling with children, start a day at the Edinburgh Zoo then drive west 26 km to Bo’ness for a heritage, Steam Train ride.

Walk the streets around Princes Street and George Street, the main shopping area in the city center, home to upmarket shops, the Waverley Mall near Waverley station, and Multrees Walk, adjacent to the St. James Center, all offering great shopping opportunities.

Edinburgh has a mild climate best for visits from May through to September.
