• York Castle Museum

Reflecting 400 years of York’s history, the museum is located within the 18th century York Castle prison buildings. A major attraction in the museum is the exhibit of recreated late Victorian Kirkgate street. Other exhibitions are of the history of children’s toys, the 20th century Sixties era, furnished and decorated period rooms, life in prison describing infamous resident’s stories, 1914 WWW I era exhibition, and more.
