• Volcanic Region of Garrotxa

The region is famous for an infinite beautiful landscape of 30 volcanoes, craters and lava, forests over lava rivers, and spectacular gorges with basalt walls. 50 km West of Girona, between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava, either for recreation activity or part of leisure time explore the amazing landscapes, towns, castles, monuments, churches, and villages nestled in the extreme environment.

Hiking along the park’s trails is highly recommended, enjoying the colors of the Ochre earth, the dark ash, the petrified lava mix, and the intense green forests and meadows. In spring and summer, on foot, by bike or on horseback, it’s a sheer joy.

Visit the Croscat volcano with its impressive opening leaving its inner structure exposed, and Batet, a small village situated between walls of volcanic rock. Admire the spectacular Fajeda d’en Jorda and the huge beech forest set on petrified lava.

Explore the Montsacopa volcano in the middle of the town of Olot, topped by the shrine of Sant Francesc, or the picturesque village of Santa Pau with its maze of medieval streets.
