• Varenna

North of Bellagio, 15 minutes by ferry on the eastern shore of lake Como, this picturesque and tranquil village is nice to spend time walking along its narrow cobbled alleys. Visit Piazza San Giorgio and the Romanesque/Gothic 14th century Church of San Giorgio, home to many 15th and 16th century paintings.
From Piazza San Giorgio head down towards Riva Grande, the lively lake promenade of Varenna, continue to the gardens surrounding Villa Cipressi and visit the close by Villa Monasterro.

Villa Cipressi, a luxury hotel near Villa Monastero is surrounded by beautiful terraced gardens reaching the shores of the lake.

Villa Monastero was formerly a monastery and an aristocratic residence. The villa’s main attractions are its beautiful Botanical Garden and Casa Museo, a nicely decorated and elegant museum.

Out of town visit Castello di Vezio, a Medieval fortress overlooking Varenna, home to an exhibition dedicated to the Lariosaurus, a sea reptile from the Middle Triassic period, and a training center for birds of prey.
