Traveling south from Salzburg take a 1-3 Days Tour to explore the Salt Mine and the Celtic culture museum in the nice town of Hallein, 30 km south of Salzburg. Enjoy the Keltenblitz Toboggan Run near town and continue 10 km south to the 75 meters high Golling waterfalls, Gollinger Wasserfall, offering beautiful trails within lush green surroundings. 4 km south of the waterfalls enjoy the beautiful and exciting Salzachklamm Gorge.
Continuing south, ride the funicular to climb and visit the medieval Hohenwerfen Castle, its museum and Falconry Center offering flight demonstrations of various birds of prey. Visit the nearby Werfen Ice Cave, Eisriesenwelt, the largest in the World, with its beautiful Stalagmites and Stalactites ice formations. From Werfen drive south to St. Johann, 75 km south of Salzburg, where in the nearby Alpendorf ski resort ride the funicular to the top of the mountain for overwhelming Alp’s scenery and children’s playground.

While taking this route consider making a detour to the beautiful Schladming–Dachstein Region. If you have the time continue further west to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and the attractions of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Conclude your trip by driving 40 km west to Hofgastein (Alpentherme SPA) or Badgastein, two beautiful SPA towns with great SPA facilities.
