• Timanfaya National Park

In the 18th century, a series of Mega eruptions covered most of the island in molten lava and volcanic ash. Later the island’s population returned and restored the villages and agricultural activity. The most dramatic Lunar like volcanic landscapes of solidified lava, including the active volcano, are part of Timanfaya National Park.

At the top of the volcanic cone, at Islote de Hilario, view the entire park where park rangers demonstrate the tremendous heat beneath your feet. More to experience are collapsed crater that forms a cove beach with semi precious stones, sea caves formed by volcanic tubes, and red dunes of volcanic ash. Hold hot rocks straight from the ground, watch bushes burst into flames and see geysers erupt into the air.
