• Tiger Cave Temple

Wat Tham Suea, 10 km north of Krabi Town, is an impressive monastic complex including multiple buildings, meditation halls, chedis combining active monastic life, meditation caves, and a golden Buddha statue and panoramic viewpoint on the summit, atop a limestone peak. The temple’s lower-level incorporate meditation caves in the limestone cliffs, monk’s quarters, a large golden Buddha statue, chedis, bells, and large gardens with religious statues scattered around.
The atmosphere in the temple is genuinely devotional rather than tourist oriented.
The steep and long climbing of 1,237 steps and 600 meters in elevation to the summit takes 45-60 minutes. The climb is physically challenging, with multiple rest stops on the way.
At the summit admire a golden Buddha statue and a chedi, with smaller shrines and bells completing the sacred space.
Enjoy the magnificent scenery of Krabi Province including Mangrove forests, limestone karst formations, the Andaman Sea, and the complex geometry of agriculture and jungle covering the lowlands.
Bring with you modest clothing, sturdy shoes and water, and be aware of the Monkeys when climbing to the summit.
Visit the temple independently using a rental car or motorbike, or as part of organized tour.
Combine the temple visit with visits to the Emerald and Blue Pools, and the Hot Water Spring.
