Considered one of the oldest medieval villages in the French Riviera, located 20 km west of Nice. The picturesque hilltop walled village became famous for being popular in the 20th century among renown artists and intellectuals such as Marc Chagall who was buried in town, Pablo Picasso, Jean Miro, Henry Matisse, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and others.
Stroll the town narrow, cobbled medieval allies, and enjoy its restaurants and bars. In town are numerous studios and modern art galleries presenting magnificent collections of numerous modern and contemporary artworks including those of Chagall, Miro, Calder, and many others. Visit Fondation Maeght, the village famous museum exhibiting artworks by Braque, Kandinsky, Chagall, Giacometti and Miro, and temporary exhibitions.
