• The Royal Mile

Starting from Edinburgh Castle the Royal Mile descends through the old town, from Castle Hill east towards Holyrood Palace. Strolling along the Old Town cobbled streets you will encounter St. GilesCathedral, the Parliament Square, the 17th century Parliament House, the John Knox House and museum, and many more 17th century buildings.

At the lower end of the Royal Mile, you will find the 13th century Augustinian Abbey of Holyrood, the Holyrood Palace, and to the southeast the Holyrood Park, home to the Salisbury Crags and Arthur’s Seat.

From the Edinburgh Castle you can also go down south on Victoria Street to the vibrant Medieval Grass Market.
