• The Residenz Palace and Gallery

The current 17th century Baroque palace, was originally founded in the 12th century to be used as the Prince-Bishop residence. Today the palace is home of the Residenz Gallery with its collection of 16th-19th centuries European masters paintings. Laid out around three courtyards, the spectacular Palace State Apartments and Banquet Halls are extravagantly decorated in Late Baroque and Early Neoclassical styles.
Enjoy the beautiful wall and ceiling paintings, the rich stucco decorations, the Flemish tapestries and silk carpets, and the period Parisian furniture. In the gallery enjoy the paintings of Rembrandt, Rubens, Brueghel, and many others, and various changing exhibitions.
