An art museum in the Kunstareal area in Munich, one of the most important 19th century art museums in the world. From the Enlightenment period to early modernity, from classicism to art nouveau, the museum is home to an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures from the 18th century through to the early 20th century.
The collection includes paintings by the masters such as Goya, Gainsborough, Delacroix, Renoir, Monet, Cezanne, Gauguin, Degas, Van Gogh, and Toulouse-Lautrec, among many others, and sculptures by artists such as Rodin, Picasso, Thorvaldsen, Canova, and more.
