• The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations

MuCEM, Musee des civilizations de l’Europe et de la Mediterranee, is a highly popular national museum at the entrance to the port of Marseille. With breathtaking architecture the museum is home to the Mediterranean Gallery, presenting the Mediterranean cultures and civilizations while addressing  anthropology, culture, history, art, and environment. Explore everyday objects, art, photography, and archaeological artifacts, from the Neolithic era to these days.
The 17th century Fort Saint-Jean is part of the MuCEM, connected to the museum and the old town district by two pedestrian bridges. Within the fortress complex an exhibition related to the site’s history, a venue for temporary exhibitions and a documentation center.
