• The Kariye Mosque (the Chora Church)

Originally a Medieval Byzantine church in Edirnekapı, Istanbul, converted to a mosque in the 16th century. The fabulous, restored church is home to numerous 14th century famous mosaics and frescoes, some of the finest Byzantine Christian arts.
Most of the interior including the domes is covered with mosaics depicting the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary. The side chapel is covered with stunning frescoes of death and resurrection depicting scenes from the Old Testament.
