• The Blue Temple

Wat Rong Suea Ten, the Blue Temple, represents a new generation of northern Thai contemporary Buddhist art, created by Phuttha Kabkaew in 2016, 3 km north of Chiang Rai city center.
The temple’s exterior is covered with deep blue and gold stucco work with naga serpents, demons, and mythological creatures rendered in spectacular detail. The interior is also covered in deep blue paint and gold decorative work, with enormous white seated Buddha statue, creating a stunning contrast against the blue background. The craftsmanship is extraordinary with every surface covered in painted or sculpted decorations depicting scenes from Buddhist cosmology, Jataka tales, and Lanna artistic traditions.
Wat Rong Suea Ten is less crowded than the White Temple but equally impressive artistically.
