A must visit magnificent museum within the magnificent 17th century palace of the Habsburg archdukes and its beautifully restored period State Rooms. The museum is home to one of the largest and most important print rooms in the world with approximately 65,000 drawings, and more than one million old master’s prints, modern graphic works, photographs and architectural drawings.
In addition to the drawings and prints collection, the museum has impressive collections of Impressionist and early 20th century paintings, including a marvelous exhibition of paintings from “Monet to Picasso”. Enjoy paintings by Monet, Picasso, Chagall, Magritte, Cezanne, Degas, Modigliani, Klimt, Munch, Kandinsky, Miro, Giacometti, and many more.
The Graphic Art Collection of the Museum, founded in the 18th century, includes drawings and prints from the late Gothic period to present, from Michelangelo and Durer to Rembrandt and Rubens, from Klimt and Schiele to Picasso, presenting a wonderful overview of 600 years of art history.
The highlight of the collection includes works by the famous masters of Klimt, Schiele, Bruegel, Durer, Raphael, Michelangelo, Buonarroti, Rubens, Goya, Rembrandt, Toulouse-Lautrec, Andy Warhol and many more.
