• Syntagma Square

The central square of Athene, home to the Greek Parliament building and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the Evzones guards in traditional costume. The guards perform a Changing of the Guard “slow motion dance” ritual every hour on the hour. On Sunday 11 am the ceremony is much more impressive involving more guards. The square is where the beautiful National Garden starts, and south of the square stands the impressive 19th Zappeion Mansion.
