• Svinafellsjokull Lagoon

A beautiful glacier tongue and a small water lagoon which can be admired from a very short distance. The glacier is famous for its magnificent blue colors and the large blocks of blue ice sculptures floating calmly in contrast to the brownish lagoon water.
Take a short one km hike from the car park to the glacier where you can climb a little on the glacier itself admiring the large peaks of blue, black, and white ice, and the magnificent scenery of the glacier and lagoon. It’s usually a very short visit but very rewarding.
The glacier was the filming location for part of season 7 of the Game Of Throne TV series.
To reach the Svínafellsjokull Lagoon visitors center, take a 1 km long road northeast off the Ring Road, 2 km past the exit to road 998 and the Svartifoss Fall.
