A port city at the mouth of the River Sado east of the Arrabida Natural Park, 30 km northeast of Sesimbra and 50 km southeast of Lisbon.

The cloister of the complex houses a museum of the monastery, Museu de Jesus, home to a remarkable collection of 15th-16th centuries Flemish and Portuguese Primitive paintings, archaeological items, and more.
