• Schönbrunn Palace

The 18th century Rococo palace complex and gardens, the summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty in Hietzing Vienna. The palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historic monuments, and the most popular tourist attraction in Austria. Known for its magnificent architecture and beautiful park and gardens, there are more than 1,400 fabulous rooms in the palace, 40 of which can be visited.
Admire the magnificently decorated Emperor Franz Joseph’s and Empress Maria Theresa imperial apartments with their period furniture, art, and artworks. Part of the Palace is the Wagenburg Imperial Carriage Museum and its vast collection of carriages, sedan chairs, and other transportation means, and an exhibition related to the life of Empress Elisabeth.
Families visiting the palace should visit the Children’s Museum and the Vienna Zoo on the palace grounds.
Visit the fabulous Gardens and park of the palace, with its tree-lined avenues, lawns, woods, and landscaped flowerbeds, and the French, English and Japanese gardens, decorated with fountains and sculptures.
Enjoy the Mase and Labyrinth, the Neptune fountain towering majestically over tritons and sea horses, and the Gloriette Triumph Arch on the top of the hill with its rooftop viewing platform. Visit the “Roman Ruins” picturesque feature modelled after the Vespasian and Titus Temple, the palm house home to Mediterranean, tropical, and sub-tropical exotic plants, the Desert House cactus and succulents’ collections, and the Orangery with its exotic plants, vineyard, and rare fruit trees.
The Schönbrunn palace and gardens holds many yearly events, including Mozart and Strauss classical concerts, the annual Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Summer Night Concert, and the Schönbrunn Christmas, New Year and Easter markets.
