• Sao Bento Railway Station

The Estacao de Sao Bento is a railway station in the center of Porto with its center hall completely covered with more than 20,000 tiles Murals.
The magnificent Murals include blue painted white tiles depicting scenes presenting historic events of northern Portugal, and multicoloured tiles Murals depicting rural scenes of various Portuguese regions.
The historic events presented include the Battle of Arcos de Valdevez, King Joao I and Queen Philippa near Porto’s cathedral in the 14th century, the 15th century Conquest of Ceuta, and more.
Day to day multicolour tile scenes include among others a cattle fair and pilgrim camp, work in the vineyards, the harvest, wine shipping on the Douro River, and more.
