• Pico Mountain Climb

The main reason people visit Pico Island is to climb the cone shape dormant volcano, 2,351 meters high, Pico Mountain, the highest mountain in Portugal.
It’s a strenuous steep climb of 6-8 hours including the descend, which can be carried out during the day, at night, or including sleepover at the top.
It is recommended to climb with a local guide.
The climbing starts at the visitor’s center, Casa de Montanha, the Mountain House, 17 km southeast of Madalena.
