• Palermo Cathedral

An impressive 12th century Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, at Corso Vittorio Emanuele (corner of Via Matteo Bonello). The church has been renovated periodically until the 19th century, hence it incorporates a mix of Gothic, Catalan, Norman and Arabic architectural styles and artifacts. The main attractions in the Cathedral are the Roman royal tombs of Frederick II and Roger II, the treasury, a simple 17th century solar observatory, and the great panoramic views from the Cathedral roof.
