• Naples Cathedral

The Cathedral di San Gennaro is a 13th century Roman Catholic cathedral, and the seat of the Archbishop of Naples. The Cathedral is famous for its vessels of Saint Gennaro’s blood which liquefies miraculously, otherwise the legend states, a disaster will occur. The Cathedral’s main attraction is in the Royal Chapel of San Gennaro, containing the skull of the saint, who was martyred in the 4th century. Admire the Chapel frescoes by Domenichino and Giovanni Lanfranco, the altar artifacts by Domenichino, Stanzione and Ribera, the rich altar by Solimena, and the bronze railing by Fanzago. Other artworks in the Cathedral include an Assumption by Pietro Perugino, canvasses by Luca Giordano, 4th century mosaics, and 14th century frescoes.
